Glasgow 2026 — NSE UK Engineering Convention

6–8 August 2026 · Glasgow Caledonian University

Technical Secretary of the NSE Glasgow branch and technical lead for its three-day international convention, Engineering Innovations for National Impact, held with Glasgow Caledonian University and the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers.

  • Designed the technical programme; produced the printed programme and Book of Abstracts.
  • Ran the call for abstracts and peer review, across parallel streams in AI and digital systems, energy and low-carbon transition, materials and infrastructure, and engineering in society and policy. Papers are due for publication on the branch website.
  • Recruited and briefed the UK plenary speakers across academia and industry.
  • Moderated the flagship panel, AI as an Engine for Economic Growth: Opportunities and Challenges for Nigeria, and anchored most of the plenary sessions.

Branch Technical Programme

NSE Glasgow Branch · 2024–present

Technical programme delivery across three strands: the monthly technical webinar series, technical visits to engineering firms operating in the UK — including Keadby 2 Power Station and the Traffcom traffic control room — and the branch’s annual conference.

Teaching

  • Computer Science Academy Africa — Python for IoT (2022) and Python for Data Science & Analysis (2024/2025); 200+ learners across 14 African countries, teaching team of six.
  • Office for National Statistics — internal sessions on version control, reproducible analytical pipelines and engineering practice; mentor on the government Data Science Graduate Programme.
  • Future Makers Lab, African Challenge Scotland — Saturday engineering and digital-making programme for young people aged 11–16 in Glasgow.
