Dr Kenechi Omeke
Profile
I am an electrical and electronic engineer and senior data scientist working across communications, Internet of Things, cyber-physical systems, AI, and climate-health infrastructure. My work bridges fundamental wireless research with national-scale public-interest engineering — translating methods into deployable tools, packages, and platforms. I lead the engineering of a UN-hosted climate-health platform at the UK Office for National Statistics, conduct affiliate research on resilient sensing and smart housing at the University of Glasgow, and co-founded an AI engineering company building edge-deployable clinical systems for low-resource settings.
Current Roles
- Senior Data Scientist & SOSCHI Technical Lead — Office for National Statistics
- Affiliate Researcher — James Watt School of Engineering, University of Glasgow
- Co-Founder — Voith AI Ltd
- IoT Lead (2021–2022) & Data Science Lead (2024–2025) — Computer Science Academy Africa
Highlights
- Technical lead for SOSCHI — a £5m Wellcome-funded climate-health platform hosted on the UN Global Platform.
- Lead maintainer and platform developer of the
climatehealth R package, published on CRAN, implementing six climate-health indicators endorsed by the United Nations Statistical Commission (57th session, New York, March 2026) for the Global Set of Environment and Climate Change Statistics.
- PhD work on the Internet of Underwater Things (DEKCS clustering protocol, RL-based SWIPT) — IEEE Sensors Journal paper recognised among the most downloaded in its category, with invited presentation at the IEEE Sensors Conference, Dallas.
- Five major IEEE manuscripts currently under review across IEEE COMST, IEEE IoT Journal (×2), IEEE JOE, and IEEE JBHI.
- Over 360 Google Scholar citations as of March 2026 (DEKCS cited 100+).
